On April 11, 2024, Ambassador He Rulong visited Selfoss, a city under the jurisdiction of Árborg in southern Iceland and paid a visit to the local rescue headquarter in the company of  Mayor Fjóla Steindóra Kristinsdóttir of Árborg Municipality. 

    Ambassador He said during the meeting with Mayor Fjóla Steindóra Kristinsdóttir that cooperation between localities is an important part of China-Iceland friendship. As an important city in terms of tourism in southern Iceland, Selfoss plays a key role in receiving Chinese tourists. The embassy is willing to strengthen ties with Selfoss to further promote friendship and cooperation between the localities of the two countries.

    Mayor Kristinsdóttir introduced the development of Selfoss, saying that Selfoss values the cooperation with China and is willing to further enhance mutual understanding with China with a view to attract more Chinese friends to stop over in this city.

    At the rescue headquarter, Ambassador He expressed his gratitude to the rescue team for their enthusiastic and tireless work in helping Chinese tourists in need.
